Here are are ten posts for the weekend. If I missed your favorite leave a comment.
- The Christian Sabbath from Tu me fecisti et refecisti. Kevin Foflygen posted a massive article on the Sabbath. I hope this was a paper he turned in. If not he might becoming Timmy.
- Repentance and Faith Inseparable from Provocations & Pantings. Speaking of
DoctorMr. Brister, he posted a some great thoughts on conversion. Does anybody notice how much work this guy puts into every post? - 2007 Resolution on Integrity in Church Membership from Founders Ministries Blog. Ok, I know Tom Ascol is not an officially a SBTS blogger but his resolution on church membership is worth breaking the rules to link.
- Review: ESV Single Column Reference Bible from THIS LAMP. Rick proves once and for all that he is not TNIV only
And Rick - If you’re reading this here is a quote for you, “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Jude 24-25 TNIV - Called to the Ministry? and So, you’re thinking of being a pastor? from joethorn.net. More wise counsel from SBTS grad and pastor Joe Thorn.
- Book Review: Calvinism in the Las Vegas Airport from Kingdom People. How can you not click on a link with that title? Great job as always from Trevin.
- Where Have all the Liberals Gone? — The Riverside… from Albert Mohler’s Blog. Here is some encouragement from Dr. Mohler for you guys who are graduating but still need a job. Too bad they are not interviewing SBTS grads.
- Boyce degree in Spanish announced from Baptist Press (BPNews). Not sure what to think of this one. I’m a Boyce College graduate but when I enrolled in 1999 we only had 2 degrees - one with Greek & Hebrew and one without. Now they have over 1000 students and are innovating with Spanish degrees. Cool stuff.
- The Deadly Serious Art of Preaching from Consumed. Owen makes some great observations about the gravity of preaching.
- Revival from Fairview Baptist Rev. Andy shares some thoughts on revivalism and the theology of conversion.

Thanks for the link to the book review, Tony. I hope it’s helpful for those who haven’t had time to pick it up.

Pardon me, while I get up off the floor
No, I’m not, nor will I ever be TNIV-only, although I began teaching from it last year after determining that many criticisms against it were unfounded (in my opinion). But I always study the Bible with translations in parallel (as suggested by Augustine, and quoted in the preface to the KJV) along with the original languages.
Admittedly, I still prefer the NASB to the ESV when it comes to the formal equivalent/Tyndale tradition category. Nevertheless, I now own three physical copies of the ESV and two different electronic versions, which is probably a lot more than some folks who use it as a primary Bible.

Rick - I thought that might get you to comment. I do own one copy of the TNIV New Testament. But it was free :p
Trevin - I really appreciate your review. I would that all bloggers did more book reviews - myself included.

Tony, keep in mind that if that TNIV NT is the original free one with a 2002 copyright, it’s not the final product. There were a number of changes in the 2005 edition from the earlier copy. Many of the changes were in relation to texts that received some of the heaviest criticism. If you need a newer copy, let me know

Thanks but I usually compare translations on the computer. I use my ESV for reading and teaching and reference the Greek NT when I can. Otherwise its all on the computer screen.
Thanks for your generous offer - it is very hard to decline a book of any kind. I never really got into the TNIV controversy. I read a few articles (mostly on your blog) but in general was busy with other things.

I like the new layout. Much easier on the eyes.
Thanks for the honorable mention. I wasn’t sure anyone would bother reading such a long post about the Sabbath. It wasn’t an assignment, but I’ll probably turn it into a paper if I ever get the chance.
