Christ & Pop-Culture

christ-pop-culture.jpg

Christ and Pop-Culture is a new team blog written by a few Southern Seminary students and their friends. They are seeking to help Christians think rightly about the various things that one encounters in pop-culture. In their words: “Pop Culture is everywhere. We just acknowledge it. Christ and Pop Culture is an attempt to discuss and think rightly about the common knowledge of our age.” Every week, they post a new podcast about various subjects like football, horror films, Dumbledore coming out of the closet, Halo 3 and evangelism, and good Christian art.

Frequent post topics include what to think about the writer’s strike, video-game ethics , and a general defense of engaging in pop culture. Most posts tend to generate a good amount of helpful discussion in the comments.

Also, word is Dr. Steve Halla, Director of the Center for Christianity and the Arts at Southern Seminary, will be a guest in an episode coming in December.

Great link on Christ and Pop Culture.

After seeking to set the bar appropriately low in my initial post, I will make occasional comments at http://www.alloflife.org. (And I am a Southern Student — you can take that several ways).
