A: Only a little less cheated than dropping the class and failing to graduate.

  1. I would like to take some classes online but the cost is prohibitive.

    I feel your pain.

@Stan McCullars: I think my class was the worst possible scenario (except for non-SBC status), but it really made me glad to be paying my last tuition.

  3. For it being your last tuition…

Well Tony, somebody’s got to pay for that web studio and all those fake books in the background…

@Brother Hank: The sad part is I never fully enjoy the videos, normally I’ll port them to Mp3 and listen while I’m jogging or driving. Always deleting the files afterward 🙂

At some point we need to discuss the potential for free seminary education. With a small endowment (maybe equal to one professorship) + a little Internet savoy, SBTS could offer many of their core classes as 100% free.

Imagine having the first 30 credits of the M.Div completely without cost. This could be open to all Southern Baptists and would do more to fulfill Boyce’s vision than any other program I could imagine.

  6. Fuller, Concordia, and RTS already offer free courses on iTunes U. I think there may be some charge to receive credit, but anyone can download the lectures and listen/watch. I’d like to see SBTS do something similar for pastors and missionaries around the world.

@Joshua Hutchens: I am just talking crazy. It will be hard for Southern to innovate in these ways because they are so good at what they already do. That’s one downside at being the best, it’s hard take risks.
