I have two blogs on blogger that I still use – and none on the free Wordpress.com

I think Wordpress looks better and gives you ‘future posts’ but you lose java scripts and template customization and monetization.

I guess it depends on your purpose. I think Blogger still has the edge.

With wordpress.com you are very limited on customization. That can be a problem. They also don’t allow Java Script on your blog or ads. So if can be restrictive in those ways.

We run this site with WordPress installed on our own hosting service. This gives us near total flexibility, but it costs $100 or more per year for a hosting service.

I currently have a wordpress blog, but am thinking of switching _back_ to Blogger because, if we compare the free wp.com blogs with blogger blogs (which are all free), i think you cam do more customization with Blogger.

Oh, and one more thing… Another great alternative for Christian bloggers, is to use MyChurch.org. They don’t yet have a ‘howto’ video, but it’d be a shame not to mention the site. It’s got a ton of the functionalities of these other blogsites, and considerably MORE in some respects… Eg. social-networking (‘friends’) at the same time, as well as attaching your blog to your church’s collaborative site & collaborative blog… And community mapping of the participating churches. Great way to connect & communicate. [And of course, they can always use the solid theological content that SAS type bloggers can provide. Win-win-win impact in the name of Christ.]
