@tj - it was one week out of the next calendar year. The 30 weeks was the approximate time we are in class. I, too, hope that everyone who stood will follow through. My pastor stood, as did I, and I texted him and told him I was going to hold him accountable to that.

Great sermon. May we all strive to know God's Word in that way. I sure hope all those who stood up before the Lord and before their peers and committed one out of the next 30 weeks to foreign missions, are faithful to their commitment. That was a lot of people!

I have to be honest - the SBTS chapel services on channel 19 seldom stop my ADD induced channel surfing. Today I stopped when Dr Platt caught my attention. My first thought was: "who is this kid they let take over chapel - he's good!" Then after listening a while, I realize he isn't just preaching from his heart, but he's quoting Romans as if it is a fresh thought from the heart of God.

YES - gospel theology must ALWAYS be accompanied by urgent missiology!

May we all carry the burden for reaching the lost like Dr Platt so passionately challenged us!

Dr. Platt did an excellent job, not just on Thursday, but all week of saying we need to be Christians who are truly Christians: people who are devoted to following Christ, people who seek to lead others to be devoted followers of Christ (make disciples) and today to be people who truly hunger for and devour God's Word. In all this, there should be a missions fervor.

Combining this message with Dr. Moore and Dr. Mohler's over the past few weeks, we have received truly top of the line exhortation to put our theology into practice.

Moving forward from here, I am left with the question of how to do this. How can I have a gospel theology that drives missiological urgency in Louisville tomorrow, next week, next month? How can I build a missions awareness into my life to where it is just that: part of my life. My challenge to us (students) is to put into practice what we are hearing, because the step from "wow, that was good" to "I'm applying that now" is one that is usually not taken.

Terry, you are correct. I took a long lunch at work to come, maybe mostly because of the "fame" factor. But as he started into the 2nd chapter of Romans my heart changed and I mostly just listened checking everyonce in a while to see where he was. When you said, "it was as if we were the original recipients," you got it right. It's one thing to read the first 8 chapters through, but to hear them read outloud, together, with meaning was something that brought new eyes to the text.

May we all strive to never let Gospel Theology be separated from our Missiological Urgency.
