Revisting “Dumb Things Christians Do”

Since the seminary was closed today due to the weather, we did not have a chapel service. However, on a local religious channel here in Louisville (channel 19) they simulcast the chapel service at 10 am on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and then repeat the broadcast at 6 pm the same nights. I tuned in today at 10 am and was blessed to see Dr. Thom Rainer‘s message being re-aired from 8 November 2007. Dr. Rainer is the former dean of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism at Southern Seminary and is now serving as the President and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville, TN.

Sermon About Doing Dumb Things: Matthew 6:14-15

Preaching from Matthew 6:14-15, Dr. Rainer touched the hearts of many in the congregation. First, forgiveness begins with an understanding of the cross. The cross is the perfect act of forgiveness and is the standard by which we are to forgive others. Second, Christian forgiveness has no conditions. Finally, forgiveness not given means fellowship with God is forsaken.
